Compost food scraps (eggshells, leftover vegetables and fruit, and peelings) in your yard along with things like yard prunings and lawn clippings. In addition, you can put meat and dairy scraps in your yard waste bin, as well as all the other contents of a home compost pile. However, do not compost things containing animal fat at home; the equipment used to make compost at landfills is different from a home compost bin.
